Maharashtra leads India in fresh horticulture exports, supplying over 80% of India's grape exports and the majority of pomegranate, onion, and mango consignments to Europe, the Middle East, and Southeast Asia.
To support this massive export engine, the Maharashtra State Agriculture Marketing Board (MSAMB) and the Department of Agriculture implement extensive capital subsidy programs.
1. Capital Grants Under State Horticulture Policies
- Cold Storage Units (Multi-commodity): Up to 35% capital subsidy for general areas, and up to 50% for notified tribal/hilly areas and FPOs under MIDH convergence.
- Integrated Packhouses: Grants covering sorting, grading, washing, and mechanical packing lines up to ₹15 to ₹25 Lakh.
- Onion Storage Structures (Kanda Chawl): Up to 50% subsidy to minimize seasonal onion distress sales in Nashik, Ahmednagar, and Pune districts.
- Reefer Vans: Subsidy of up to ₹7.5 Lakh to ₹10 Lakh per specialized refrigerated container truck.
2. Eligibility & Application Steps
- Individual farmers, proprietary firms, partnerships, and registered Farmer Producer Companies (FPCs).
- Owned agricultural land or minimum 15-year registered commercial lease.
- Applications submitted online through the MahaDBT Agriculture Portal (
mahadbt.maharashtra.gov.in).
